The premiere of the Korean-Japanese movie "Cafe Seoul" starring singer Kim Jeong-hoon from the duet UN was held June 28 in Tokyo. It was attended by filmmaker Masaharu Take, actor Kim Dong-wuk from the TV drama "Coffee Prince", up-and-coming actor Takumi Saito, Jang Seo-won and Koo Bon-woong.

Prior to his military service, Kim Jeong-hoon said in a video message that he chose that role in "Cafe Seoul" because he had always wanted to play a cynical role. He added that he received injuries while filming scenes where he is beaten by gangsters.

He also added that he enjoys the movies produced by Takeshi Kitano and Satoshi Miki, and that he would want to try his skills in a comical role someday as well as the role of a detective or murderer.

Takumi Saito, who also appears in "Cafe Seoul", said the movie is a masterpiece of an innovative genre, and that he was impressed to see the production crew of the movie eat from the same pot and discuss the movie over lunch when it was filmed in Seoul.

Kim Dong-wuk said he decided to take the role because it was interesting to see how Japanese writers and director dealt with Korean culture and traditions and because it was an opportunity to learn. Kim added, "Saito and I received energy from stamina drinks".

Director Masaharu Take, for his part, said the movie had presented him with a valuable experience and added jokingly that he still craved the Korean chicken and ginseng soup "samgyetang".

"Cafe Seoul" is a story about the conflicts, strong ties and love of three brothers whose traditional bakery "Morandang" is threatened to be demolished soon. The movie will open in Japan on July 18, starting in Tokyo.

Kim Jeong-hoon's new Japan single debuts at No. 5

Singer Kim Jeong-hoon's new single has debuted at No. 5 on Japan's music chart on the first day of its release, according to his agency on Thursday.

Kim's eighth single "Rainy Flash", which went on sale the previous day in time with the singer's birthday, ranked fifth on Japan's daily Oricon chart, Mersenne said in a press release.

"It is amazing to see the singer do so well even though the singer is currently not performing due to serving Korea's mandatory military service", an official at Mersenne was quoted as saying.

The 30-year-old singer recorded the album before enlisting in the army in April last year. Kim's second single will be released in April and the full-length album in October.

His first mini-album "In Your Eyes" was released in Korea last September and in Japan mid-December. It will be sold in countries throughout Asia in February.

The singer, who debuted in 2000 with the now-disbanded duo group UN, has also expanded his career into acting. Of the several dramas that he has appeared in, he is best known for his role in MBC hit TV series "Princess HoursGoong".

Ahh...sudah lama tidak mengisi ini blog *smile* Thank you so much to Polaris to keep this blog up-to-date with Jeong Hoon-ssi news.

Mungkin rada telat ngasih review buat mini album ini, soalnya release-nya aja Sept 2009. But...it's ok lah. Mendingan telat daripada nggak sama sekali *betul nggak*

Album ini sedikit memberi kejutan buat fans nya yang ada di Korea, karena selama ini Jeong Hoon slalu mengeluarkan album dalam bahasa Jepang dan menggunakan nama John Hoon. Ada beberapa sindirian saat mini album keluar "Ahh finally back to his roots" yang dilontarkan sama media Korea. Sebenarnya album ini adalah pesan Jeong Hoon kepada fansnya yang harus dia tinggalkan karena harus menjalani wajib militer. Dan hebatnya *walau Jeong Hoon tidak bisa menghadiri press conference saat release* mini album ini berhasil terjual 20.000 copies *wow* di Korea.
Albumnya sendiri terdiri dari 6 lagu dan In Your Eyes digadang jadi hit-nya (lagu ballad tentang cinta yang tidak bisa bersatu)
